Has this Ever Happened to You?..(or to someone you know?!)
Rating: 0/5Apparently in a land based bingo hall (a Winners Bingo club in Wisbech) one unlucky player (a Mr Price) who called bingo on a linked game was not heard by the caller who actually continued to call numbers making Mr Price’s claim invalid!
Now if you have ever been to a land based bingo club then you will know that during the games there is absolute silence as everyone is concentrating on their tickets, and after all ‘eyes down’ is the name of the game.
Mr Ronald Prices dilemma has appeared in several publications as he missed out on a whopping £10k jackpot, and here we are recapping and revisiting this extraordinary story bringing you updates as we learn of them.
What makes this story so interesting was that one of the staff members had walked to the table to validate Mr Prices claim with microphone in hand! Now this situation really does beggar belief and both Mr and Mrs Price claimed that the club erupted with excitement and also that Mrs Price was jumping up and down herself! This is surely a mystery as the caller has been in the bingo industry for more than four decades and is also the Wisbech Winners Bingo club manager, and he didn’t hear the call!!`
What is rather interesting and believe us we are not making any assumptions about this case in any shape or form, simply that we find this next fact interesting, is that this is not the first time that this has happened to Mr Price as about a year or so ago a similar situation occurred and the club had to pay Mr Price £1,000 of his winnings.
Since the alleged incident at the club Mr and Mrs Price have been diligently standing outside of the Winners Bingo Hall attempting to get signatures on a petition they have drawn together in an attempt to get at their winnings. The petition is a simple one and only consists of three questions which are:
- Were you at the club on 6/10/14?
- Did you hear Mr Price shout?
- Do you agree he should be paid?
With these three questions there is also the date of the signature, member number and name of the signatory.
Winners Reply
Winners Bingo have said. ‘we wish to clarify the position with regard to the ‘claim.’ The company has written to the customer summarising the complaints and dispute procedure according to the Gambling Commission Rules. Winners Bingo reiterates that the rules of bingo clearly state that any player must unequivocally stop the caller and that the caller’s decision is final. The Wisbech Club manager announced immediately before the disputed game that players must ensure that ‘any claims are loud and clear.’
We guess if you read between the lines, Winners Bingo are none too keen to cough up any of Mr Price’s alleged winnings, and we shall simply have to wait to see what the conclusion is to this very strange tale!
